Lars Erik Hilsen, Kongsberg Maritime (Chairman of the Board)

Lars Erik is the Director/Vice President for Kongsberg Maritime Simulation and Training. He is part of the team of directors at the Kongsberg Maritimes Offshore Division. He started in Kongsberg Maritime in 2005, and came from a career in Orkla where he amongst other things worked ar Brand Manager in Nidar, Plant Manager for Borregaard Cellulose and Business Developement Manager at Orkla Foods. Lars Erik has his academic background as a MSc in Computer Integrated Production from NTH and an MBA from BI. Lars Erik has several positions as a board member, and is currently the chairman of the Board in two American companies and one Norwegian Consultat Company, in addition to the position as Chairman of the Board for the Global Maritime Knowledge Hub.

Tore Forsmo

Tore Forsmo, Norwegian Shipowners' Association

Tore is Director for Competence, Recruitment and Education at the Norwegian Shipowners' Association.  He is also the Chairman of the Board for the Norwegian Maritime Foundation of the Philippines/NTC, in addition he is a member of various boards nationally. Tore is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer from NTH. During his 20 years in the maritime industry he has worked for Cefor, Frontline Management, Det Norske Veritas, the Norwegian Maritime Directorate and the International Labour Organization.

Odd P. Torset

Odd Torset, Oslo Maritime Network

Odd is General Manager for Oslo Maritime Network, a membership organization with the aim of strengthening the regional and national maritime cluster.Odd holds an M.Sc of Marine Technology from NTH. He has worked 35 years in DNV in various management positions within offshore and maritime area, whereof 3 years as Regional Manager for all DNV activities in South America. In DNV Odd was also coordinating all maritime R&D activities for a 10-year period, and held the position as chairman in The Norwegian Research Council (NFR) for the program MAROFF for a six year period. From 1999 to 2009 Odd was maritime manager for DNV for the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as for Russia, until he retired from this position and became General Manager for Oslo Maritime Network in 2009.

Tore Morten Wetterhus

Tore Morten Wetterhus, Det Norske Veritas

Tore Morten is Director Technology and Services in DNV. He is graduated with a MSc in Electrical Engineering from NTNU. He has over 10 years of working experience in ship systems and components,  as well as marine fuel management. He joined DNV in 1995 and held senior positions in DNV Maritime. Between 2000 and 2004, he was the R&D Director cum Managing Director of Power-One, a leading supplier of advanced DC power management systems to the telecommunication industry. He rejoined DNV in 2004. After 4,5 years as Managing Director in DNV Petroleum Services in Singapore , he is now back in Norway in present position.

Rune Garen

Rune Garen, Rolls-Royce

Rune joined Ulstein Propeller AS in 1983 working in the field of marine hydrodynamics. He held various positions in the company and in 2000 he became Director of R&T in Rolls Royce Marine. He has been over all responsible for a large number of projects that have materialized in new and innovative products such as Azipull. Rune holds an MSc in Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering from NTNU. He has a special interest in innovation and how innovation might be stimulated to move technology and the business forward to meet future expectations and objectives. He holds a number of patents and was elected a “Rolls Royce Engineering Fellow” in 2005, and the winner of “Sir Henry Royce’s Award for Technical Innovation” in 2004 and 2008 with his team. He is also a member of various Boards and Councils related to the marine business nationally as well as internationally.

Jo Stein moen

Jo Stein Moen, MARINTEK

Jo Stein is Communications Director in MARINTEK (the Norwegian Marine Technology Research Institute) in Trondheim, one of the sponsors of the Hub professorships. Moen is the chair of the Hub Working group Communications. For six years he was PR consultant in Gambit Hill+Knowlton Strategies in Oslo, working mainly for the maritime industry and the Federation of Norwegian Industries (Norsk Industri). He is a former political advisor to the Prime Minister (1997) and opposition leader in the Parliament (1998-99), and was part of the Senior political staff in the Ministry of Environment (2000-2001).

Harald Ellingsen

Harald Ellingsen, Department of Marine Technology, NTNU

Harald is the head of the Department of Marine Technology at NTNU and professor in Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology at the same institution. He is also chairman and member of various boards linked to the university. Harald has both a master and PhD within Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from NTNU. He has worked for Aker Engineering, Norwegian Shipowners' Association, MARINTEK and SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture before coming to NTNU in 2006. He has during his carrier headed a number of research and development project related to the marine and maritime field.

Torger Reve

Torger Reve, Norwegian School of Management BI

Torger is Wilh Wilhelmsen Professor of Strategy and Industrial Competitiveness at BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo, where he was also President (Rector) for eight years. Torger has a PhD from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, and he has been visiting researcher at Stanford University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Harvard Business School, USA, and at Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Fudan University, Shanghai and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.  Before coming to BI as President, Torger Reve was CEO at Foundation for Research in Economics and Business Administration (SNF) at NHH Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen where he was also Professor of Organization Sciences for many years.

Torger Reve has published 13 books and more than 100 scientific articles and book chapters, and he works closely with business and government in areas of strategy, competitiveness and industrial policy. His most recent book (2012), titled "Et kunnskapsbasert Norge" (A knowledge based Norway), sums up the results of a large study of 13 Norwegian industries and comes up with proposals for a more knowledge based industrial policy.  He was one of founders of Oslo Maritime Network, and he came up with the idea for the Global Maritime Knowledge Hub. Torger Reve is member of several Boards and Advisory Councils, and he lectures to students and business audiences throughout the world.  

Erik Dyrkoren

Erik Dyrkoren, Maritim 21

Erik Dyrkoren is the programme manager for Maritim21 as well as the secretary for MARUT Strategic Advisory Board to the minister of trade and industry. He has been involved in Maritim21 since the beginning in 2009, and subsequently became engaged with MARUT. Erik is a master of science from both NTNU and Georgia Tech in mechanical engineering and went straight on to a job with Schlumberger oil field services in USA and Kazakhstan in 1999. In 2002 he joined MARINTEK in Trondheim as a researcher focusing on integrated operations in the Norwegian offshore sector. Between 2003 and 2008, Erik was engaged with the European Space Agency, as a project manager for logistics between Europe and the international space station (ISS). Before returning to MARINTEK and Maritim21 in 2009, Erik started an MBA with NTNU and Singapore University.

Paal Iver Aamas

Paal Aamaas, Markom 2020

Paal is the project manager of MARKOM2020, a national competence project for Norwegian maritime profession education. Paal has a master of science in Telemathics from NTNU, and has project managament, development, sales and business development experience from the data-, telecom-, content production- and TV distribution industries. He has managed several co-operation projects between university colleges in the past, where he has developed, funded and managed the projects.
