NCE Maritime

Norwegian Centres of Expertise is a tool for the maritime cluster in Møre, Norway, to fulfil their long-term ambitions. NCE Maritime promotes the mechanisms that lead to improved levels of competence and innovation, and that challenge the cluster to speed up their pace of innovation through specific projects that introduce new ideas and knowledge. These measures enhance the competitiveness of the cluster.

NCE Maritime organizes a range of seminars, conferences and exhibitions for their members and to an interested audience. A special focus is put on transferring knowledge about strategic markets, academic development, publicity and recruiting a highly skilled labour force.

NCE Maritime puts a strong emphasis on enhancing competence in the region, in close cooperation with institutions of higher education, as well as its own projects. In December 2008 NCE Maritime was one of the first to sponsor a professoriate through the Global Maritime Knowledge Hub, the professoriate in Product- and System design at the University College in Ålesund. The Centre has also contributed to the development of a Master's Degree Programme in Product- and System design and Ship design at the University College in Ålesund.

Norwegian Centre of Expertise-Maritime wanted to contribute to increased innovation in the maritime industry by providing long-term research competence within the field "Advanced Marine Operations".
