Bergen Shipowners' Association sponsors chair number 20 at NHH (test)
- Bergen Shipowners' Association's decision to sponsor a chair at NHH is based on the wish to start a development which will make Bergen leading within research, education and production of talents within shipping related subjects (law, economics, operation, freight, technical operation) and thereby increased knowledge abut strategic thinking which will benefit the members in their everyday operations. This is stated by the association in a statement released in connection to the chair. They further state that since Bergen has the largest share of the Norwegian fleet (ships woned, operated or controlled from Bergen) and the nationally leading and respected higher commercial education within economy and finance, it is only natural and right that these two advantages are taken advantage of while establishing a closer and more formal cooperation.

Bergen Shipowners' Association is Norway's oldest shipowners' association, founded in 1899 and has about 60 member companies. The associaiton functions as the Bergen chapter of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association.
The goal of the Bergen shipowners' association is to gather shipping companies from Bergen to discussions and negotiations about the shipping companies' interests and to create a common understanding for the industry's challenges.
